The hot issue for debate these days when it comes to aviation is the F-35 Joint Strike fighter. This issue seems to carry with it a debate on the use of stealth aircraft in general.
Personally I see the use of stealth aircraft in an air superiority role as pointless. You are going to get planes like the F-22 and F-35 that are constant drains on the budget and in air to air missions are inferior to or work just as well as the F-15, F-16, F-18, Eurofighter Typhoons or any other 4th generation fighter aircraft.Most air superiority fighting will be done in a within visual range dog fighting as was seen in Gulf War 1.
Stealth aircraft in my opinion have only a few roles they should be used for. Deep Penetration strike, missions, strategic bombing missions and anti air defense artillery missions in which they destroy a countries radar stations and SAM batteries opening a way for non stealth air craft to move through.
